This position would be focused on supporting the development of the Enterprise Data Warehouse and implementing reporting solutions across our clinical health care environment. This position will be responsible for the development of functional specifications to fulfill the data requirements for delivering comprehensive business intelligence solutions, data mart design, reporting and analytics. The incumbent provides system administrative support for data extract processes and reporting tools, including front line support for user community.


  • Develops and delivers BI solutions.
  • Participates in all phases of data warehouse implementation. Identifies pertinent issues and prepares comprehensive design specifications for database design, testing, conversion, and implementation.
  • Translates and documents the results of requirements gathering into a standard format to be used to create the appropriate Business Intelligence (BI) solution.
  • Leads project teams in the collection of system/business requirements and the documentation of business and technical data dictionaries/metadata and specifications in support of complex strategic Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) solutions, including critical strategic assignments. Prepares documentation for developers to build EDW solutions.
  • Applies industry standards to the technical architecture of a Business Intelligence solution (Stars, Cubes, Extract Transform and Load (ETL)) to solve business problems or increase business efficiently.
  • Implements and supports Business Objects and other reporting applications.
  • Identifies and recommends methods to normalize and maintain data from disparate systems. Works closely with Data Warehouse Architects and ETL Developers throughout the EDW development lifecycle.
  • Leads data quality efforts. Identifies and troubleshoots data warehouse issues. Develops and maintains tools to optimize data quality and access.
  • May be asked to lead data warehouse and/or business intelligence initiatives.
  • Works closely with business and clinical analyst to develop functional specifications for development of data warehouse and reporting solutions.
  • Coordinates with Data Warehouse Architects to create and support Business Intelligence environment. Identifies and works with appropriate staff to resolve technical issues.
  • Develops strategies and updates the data warehouse in response to changes reporting requirements.
  • Conducts and attends team meetings, and communicates (verbally and in writing) team and project issues to appropriate staff and customers. Presents findings, recommendations, and specifications both verbally and in writing.
  • Participates as a team member on data warehouse projects.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Strong data modeling, SQL skills and knowledge of 3rd party reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of data warehouses/data stores and data marts, and experience using SQL query techniques to access Oracle or other relational databases.
  • SQL Programming (SQL server and Oracle).
  • Experience with Orale database development, SQL and relational database design.
  • Experience with OLAP and OLTP technologies.
  • Healthcare experience in Hospital, Ambulatory and Medical Practice. Understanding of inpatient, ambulatory, and clinical workflow related to reports.
  • Ability to analyze and develop business requirements and translate them into a data warehouse dimensional model.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet negotiated timelines.
  • Skill in explaining data warehouse operations to technical and non-technical users.




  • Five years of experience in the field.
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or equivalency
  • Broad knowledge of data warehousing design, the business intelligence reporting life cycle and standard query tools.

Qualifications (Preferred)


  • Experience with Epic reporting tools including – Work Bench, Crystal Reports and Crystal integration and working with Clarity Administrators a plus.
