    Performs a variety of bookkeeping activities including, but not limited to, preparation of invoices and bills, payments of invoices, reconciliation of accounts and preparation of purchasing and payroll forms.

    Responsibilities

    • Processes invoices for payment, ensuring billed amount and quantity received corresponds to purchase order.
    • Prepares invoices and bills.
    • Reviews, deposits, and posts payments, and other transactions to accounting systems.
    • Prepares check requests, campus orders and purchase orders.
    • Ensures transactions are posted correctly to accounts and reviews transactions for accuracy and required back-up documentation.
    • Reviews and reconciles University procurement card statements.
    • Responds to a variety of accounting-related questions, such as inquiries on invoice status.
    • Assists department staff with questions on payment or purchasing documents.
    • Assists with preparation of various accounting and financial reports.
    • May assist with processing travel request.
    • Reviews work and provides training to accounting clerks.
    • May prepare purchasing or payroll forms.
    • May maintain department inventory or prepare annual physical inventory.

    Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

    • Knowledge of financial and accounting applications specific to the organization.
    • Knowledge of the methods, processes, and tools for maintaining the books of the organization and preparing financial statements and reports.
    • Understanding of accounting principles.
    • Demonstrated human relates and effective communication skills.
    • Knowledge of basic math and accounting.
    • Ability to review transactions for accuracy, completeness, and in accordance with established budget and accounting procedures.
    • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel.

    Qualifications

    • Associate's degree in Business Management, Accounting or equivalency.
    • Two years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.

    Qualifications (Preferred)

    Preferred

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
