    This position coordinates and directs the training functions of Linen Services and Environmental Services. The incumbent assesses the training needs of the staff, develops in-service training programs and monitors the training's effectiveness.

    Challenges encountered by the incumbent include the ability to convey legally-required information regarding OSHA standards and hazardous/infectious policies to employees with language or education barriers. This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.

    • Maintains, reviews, and writes departmental policies and standard operating procedures.
    • Maintains and coordinates training activities including the development and acquisition of training materials. Makes recommendations for upgrading existing training programs.
    • Ensures chemicals, products and procedures for physical and health hazards comply with federal regulations.
    • Ensures employee compliance with the Hazardous Communication Standards through training.
    • Performs job safety analysis and develops safety training programs.
    • Tracks production statistics to determine training effectiveness.
    • Maintains a computer-based training documentation system.
    • Ensures that quality of service is maintained through training.
    • Keeps abreast of new techniques and trains staff in applying new techniques.
    • Participates in personnel career development activities.
    • Assists in the interviewing of potential candidates for various positions.
    • Maintains department inventory and accounts for uniforms, name badges and supplies.

    Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

    • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
    • Demonstrated understanding of the Hazardous Communication Standards.
    • Demonstrated computer, organizational, human relations and effective communication skills.




    • Four years of progressively more responsible experience in general services (linen, housekeeping, food service or related area), six months of those as a trainer or crew leader, or equivalency.

    Qualifications (Preferred)


    • A valid Utah driver’s license is required if the incumbent is required to drive a vehicle. Must be able to drive to all Community Clinic locations. 

    Working Conditions and Physical Demands

    Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation.

    • This position involves intermediate working conditions in a healthcare setting that may exert up to 50 pounds and may consistently require light work involving lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects involving patient care or medical equipment. This position may be exposed to chemical hazards.
