    This position is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and maintenance of the Radiology Information System. The incumbent works directly with faculty and staff of Radiology to maintain operation function of the system, and is the primary driver for all changes and improvements of the system. Also functions as a major component of greater EMR initiatives.


    • Resolves analytical incident activities that include assessment, triage and closure of complex and varied information technology problems that are handled through the Altiris Application Suite.
    • Do advanced troubleshooting for customer using provided tools and analytic skills.
    • Daily reviews the incident management activities, providing end-users with timely problem solving and technical support at the desktop level.
    • Collaborates with other ITS staff on a routine basis regarding technical troubleshooting and problem resolution, unit coverage, product recommendations and other projects as needed.
    • Rollouts of new machines, cascading of existing equipment, and dissemination of new standard.
    • Solves configuration conflicts, improving software performance and user satisfaction levels.
    • Performs needs assessment, product review and procurement advice for software and hardware, and advises end-users and IT management on recommendations.
    • Performs institutional upgrades and sweeps, as needed, following established procedures for installation and machine configuration.
    • Understands and implements workflow changes as needed to improve processes, productivity and patient care.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Imaging Informatics.
    • Participates in location/shift rotation with the Client Support team on a limited basis.
    • Participates in the Radiology Support team on-call rotation.
    • Participates in regular collaboration with Team Lead, other team members, and Radiology IT group.
    • Manages RIS-centric projects and initiatives.

    Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

    • Extensive knowledge of Radiology Information System design and analysis.
    • Knowledge of Epic EMR and Epic Radiant design, build, & operations.
    • Proficiency in the various desktop operating system environments and basic desktop application suites, including word-processing, spreadsheet, and email.
    • Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all organizational levels.
    • Demonstrated human relations and communications skills, and ability to work in a team environment.
    • A strong commitment to excellence in service.
    • Knowledge in Citrix, WBT.
    • Knowledge of Radiology workflow from CPOE to Resulting.
    • Familiarity with patient/hospital applications and practices.




    • B.S. Degree in Computer Science or Healthcare-related field, or equivalency
    • A deep understanding of Radiology workflow from a clinical, operational, and billing point of view
    • Five years’ experience focused on EMR/RIS design/build, operations and/or support
    • Three years’ experience that includes experience in customer support
    • Demonstrated success in managing small IT projects in a Healthcare setting
    • Certification or completion of vendor training in an EMR or RIS environment

    Qualifications (Preferred)


    • Epic Radiant Certification
    • Certified Radiologic Technologist background
