    This position is responsible for providing spanish translation of organizational documents, informing patients about important issues and processes that are designated by the attending physician, and supporting staff and students who perform basic oral translation for patients during their stay.

    This position is not responsible for providing care to patients.


    Highly preferred to have experience translating in a healthcare setting.

    • Translates written educational materials ensuring that the document is translated faithfully into the source language. We are intersted in those with experience as Spansh Translators with previous expereience in the following. 
    • Investigates and researches medical and technical terminology in both source and target language to ensure understanding and accurate translations.
    • Translates documents using generalized target language to ensure understanding.
    • Manages the translation process of each requested document.
    • Mentors and teaches peers in order to improve the overall translation skills of the department.
    • Assists the office in general office duties and the coordination of interpreting sessions.
    • Interprets communication between the staff or faculty and the non-English speaking population.

    Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

    We are looking for someone that either has a degree in spanish translation and/or is a certified translator (with ATA or any other accredited agency). 

    • Experience with translating in spanish and English in the medical field.
    • Demonstrated potential ability to perform the essential functions as outlined above.
    • Demonstrated human relations and effective written and oral communication skills.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
    • Demonstrated ability to accurately translate written materials from source to target language.
    • Ability to mentor others.

    • Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Foreign Language, or related field, or equivalency.
    • Native-like proficiency in the target language. (Spanish) 

    Qualifications (Preferred)


    • ATA certification.
    • Experience with translating in the medical field. ( Spanish )

    • This is a sedentary position in an office setting that may exert up to 10 pounds and may lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. This position involves sitting most of the time and is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
