Medical Intensive Care (MICU)
Bed Size: 25 beds
Unit Description: Our Medical ICU (MICU) is where patients come to receive incredibly compassionate and exceptionally skilled care for a wide variety of medical conditions.
As our name suggests, we primarily care for critically ill patients who do not have a surgical condition. To that end, our team employs the skills, technical acumen and comprehensive clinical knowledge to care for patients with a diverse array of disease states and acuity levels.
We firmly believe that critical care is a team effort and we seek employees who are committed to the success of our team in providing the best possible care to our patients and families.
The MICU is overseen by two medical teams led by a Pulmonary Critical Care Intensivist:
Our team is trained to become part of the Hospital’s code team, which responds to any patient or visitor respiratory/cardiac arrest in the Hospital. We also have the opportunity to volunteer for the Hospital’s code bio team, which trains and drills to care for patients who might present with a highly infectious disease (like Ebola or SARS).
