This position provides leadership to clinical team and on-site management support in collaboration with the program manager and service director. This position also provides psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment services of a clinical nature through direct patient care and consultation to patients.

The Director of Psychology Training is a licensed, doctoral level psychologist who coordinates, directs and manages the psychology trainees at HMHI.  The Training Director is responsible for administrative and professional work related to organizing and coordinating of the American Psychological Association (APA) accredited Psychology Internship Program at Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI), and  oversees the postdoctoral and externship training programs. The Training Director also supervises interns and provides direct clinical services to patients at HMHI. 

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct psychological services for patients.
  • Collaborates with University and community agencies and departments to provide psychological and social services through outreach and consultation programs.
  • Develops mental health programs of a remedial, developmental, and preventive nature.
  • Trains and supervises pre-doctoral psychology interns and practicum students.
  • Assists in directing or working within agency program and support areas, as assigned by director.
  • Performs leadership role for therapy teams.
  • Provides direct clinical supervision of programs, group work and family education.
  • Serves as a liaison with all mental health and legal services as required.
  • Assists program manager/director with providing on-site clinical and leadership interventions.
  • Oversees patient discharge planning and coordination; may provide case management for patients.

  • Ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Required

  • Doctoral Degree and Current licensure as a Psychologist in the State of Utah.
  • One year experience in psychotherapy, group or family therapy within a clinical setting.
  • Four years of progressive leadership experience.
  • Experience in case management; discharge planning; group, family, and one-on-one interaction.

Licenses Required

  • Current licensure as a Psychologist in the State of Utah.
  • Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications (Preferred)

Preferred

  • Two years of experience in a leadership capacity.
