HMHI Youth Residential Treatment provides 24 hour clinical care to youth with mental health issues. The YRT provides services for adolescent females ages 12-17 who have a mental health diagnosis and require a safe, structured and secure setting. We specialize in the treatment of teens who struggle with: depression/mood instability, running away behavior, substance use, self-injury or self-harming behavior, anxiety / avoidance, poor self-image and ongoing suicidal thoughts or suicide attempts.

We work on a multi-disciplinary team with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, education specialists, music and recreation therapists, and psychiatric technicians.

The team works together to develop an individualized treatment plan for each resident using the evidence-based dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) model. The daily programming, level system and therapeutic interventions are guided by these principles across disciplines. Our weekly multifamily group will also teach parents some of the same skills alongside their teens so that they are able to better support, utilize and implement these skills in the home setting.

Ideal candidates have strong clinical skills, have worked with adolescents, children and their families,  have experience on a multidisciplinary team, and have experience with milieu management and interventions.

Corporate Overview: The University of Utah is a Level 1 Trauma Center and is nationally ranked and recognized for our academic research, quality standards and overall patient experience.
