The Audiology Technician assists the Audiologist and Otolaryngologist in administrative duties related to audiology clinical operations, which include assisting with various clerical and administrative tasks relating to audiology, hearing aids, and other hearing devices.

Responsibilities

  • Checks in new hearing aids (HA) and cochlear implants (CI) and prepares for fitting including the preparation of the purchase agreement and other essential documentation while connecting the aids to the appropriate software
  • Manages patient HA returns, works with the manufacturer on repairs and communicates updates to the patient
  • Works with walk-in patients with HA cleaning and checks, including troubleshooting
  • Receives HA payments from patients, posting all payments in the appropriate system and reconciling collections daily
  • Schedules patients for follow up appointments
  • Communicates with patients via phone or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) messaging regarding HA and CI related calls
  • Manages scanning of all documents including clinical and financial documentation
  • Manages Audiology inventory including all incoming and outgoing devices; coordinates CI distribution to providers to give to patients
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure that patient information is guarded and respected
  • Ability to navigate a facility with multiple providers and services

Qualifications

Required

  • One year of office experience, customer service experience, or the equivalency
  • Current, valid Utah driver's license at time of hire may be required in some areas

Qualifications (Preferred)

Preferred

  • Experience working in Audiology practice or with hearing devices
  • Post-secondary education

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation.

  • This position involves light work that may exert up to 20 pounds and may consistently require light work involving lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects. This position involves standing for extended periods of time and is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
