Overview

SIGN ON BONUS OFFERED!
 
Hospitals and Clinics is embarking on a new program to attract and retain qualified employees. The program provides a signing bonus for new hired employees at a 0.50 FTE or greater. 
•             The first installment is paid out upon hire within the first 30 days. 
•             The second installment  is paid out after 1 year of employment.
In order to qualify: 
•             The applying candidate must be an external candidate.
•             If, at any time during the first twelve (12) months of employment, an eligible employee drops below a .50 FTE, all future bonuses are forfeited, regardless of whether or not they later return to an FTE above .50.
•             If an eligible employee terminates from the organization and is subsequently rehired, they must have been separated from the organization for a period of at least 3 months before becoming eligible once again for the program.
 
At a .90 FTE, you will receive $675 within the first 30 days of hire and $1125 after 1 year. 
 
At a .75 FTE, you will receive $562 within the first 30 days of hire and $937 after 1 year. 
 
Sign-on bonuses and payments are taxable income to the employee. The University complies with federal and state regulations on reporting bonuses and payments as additional income to the employee, and paid amounts are considered wages for income and employment tax purposes. Bonuses and payments must be reported as wages on Form W-2 and all applicable withholding taxes will be withheld and reported.

Our Cardiac Cath Lab provides state-of-the-art catheter-based diagnostic and interventional therapies for coronary artery disease and structural heart conditions, as well as advanced cardiac treatment options to the community.  We offer a very comprehensive training program for new staff and continuing education for Cath Lab team that embodies the principles and philosophies of our academic medical Center. Being an academic facility, we work closely with staff and physician teams along the learning continuum. Our mission incorporates a strong commitment to a teaching environment. We are partners in research for advances in invasive interventional cardiology.

We have a dedicated leadership team that supports and encourages clinical career advancement through collaboration with the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology.

 

Bed Size: 3 dedicated Cardiac Cath Lab suites plus a 14 bed Cardiac Prep and Recovery Unit

 

This position has the responsibility of providing nursing services to Cath Lab/EP patients; setting-up electrical and hemodynamic transducers and amplifiers; recording and obtaining hemodynamic, electrical and angiographic data; and assessing patients during the procedures and delivered therapy.

This position may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to State Law.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient and equipment for catheterization procedures by preparing site of entry, draping patient, arranging sterilized instruments and catheters, and calibrating and setting-up pressure transducers and tubing.
  • Obtains and records hemodynamic, electrical, and angiographic data by operating hemodynamic and electrical amplifiers and digital and line fluoroscopic equipment.
  • Attends to patient needs during studies.
  • Develops and contributes to a plan of nursing for the patient's care.
  • Administers intravenous and oral medications to patients.
  • Assists in the collection of arterial and venous blood samples and respiratory gases.
  • Monitors patient's vital signs.
  • Participates in life-saving measures such as defibrillation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Restocks supplies when time allows.
  • Is available on a rotational call schedule for procedures after normal hours.
  • May perform circulating functions during procedure.
  • May perform scrub role for surgical implantation of pacemakers, internal cardiac defibrillators, and cardiac ablation procedures.
  • May be responsible for running the stimulator, electrophysiology recording systems, ultrasound, fluoroscopy and other devices relevant to electrophysiology procedures.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Required

  • Two years of previous nursing experience.

Licenses Required

  • Current RQI Healthcare Provider ALS eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The ALS eCredential is to be obtained within 90 days of hire
  • Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah, or obtain one within 90 days of hire under the interstate compact if switching residency to State of Utah. Must maintain current Interstate Compact (multi-state) license if residency is not being changed to Utah.

Qualifications (Preferred)

Preferred

  • Two years of ICU/CCU experience in arrhythmia and hemodynamic monitoring of patients in an acute-care setting.
  • ACLS card.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

  • This position involves intensive work that may exert up to 100 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects, such as medical equipment, or patients while providing medical care. Workers in this position may be exposed to infectious diseases and may be required to function around prisoners or behavioral health patients.
