University of Utah Health is seeking a new Executive Director for the Huntsman Mental Health Institute!
This position provides oversight and direction for all clinical operational aspects of Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI), an operating unit of the University of Utah Health: Hospitals and Clinics (UUHC).
In coordination UUHC executive leadership, this position is responsible for overseeing operations, strategic planning, leadership, project management and financial accountability for the mental health hospital, outpatient clinics, telehealth programs, integrated crisis network, residential programs, and Home Medical Program. In addition, the position ensures the integration between clinical operations and HMHI research and training programs, and acts as a liaison with external city, county, state behavioral and mental health organizations, legislative bodies, and/or other external representatives. The incumbent is responsible for performance metrics related to patient satisfaction, clinical quality, and financial performance.
This position works closely with the Vice-Chair/Medical Director of Clinical Affairs, Nursing and Clinical Operations Leaders, the Vice Chair for Research, the Vice Chair for Education, the Executive Director of the Academic Operations, and respective leadership teams to evaluate current and proposed operational systems and procedures by collecting and analyzing data from technology systems, operational practices, emerging industry trends, expansion opportunities, and financial objectives to improve business performance, process improvement and create a service line of excellence.
Acting as a liaison between UUHC executives, School of Medicine Chairs, and Department leadership, this role advances organizational goals related to financial, quality and patient-centered outcomes. Provides input to strategic decisions of the CEO of the Huntsman Mental Health Institute and UUHC leadership that affect the mental health service line, and presents organizational review reports to executives, and management for use in the objectives and goals of HMHI.

Hospital & Clinics/Clinical Overview: The HMHI Executive Director will report to UUHC's COO, and the Chair of Psychiatry and CEO of HMHI. The UUHC COO and the HMHI CEO will work together to ensure integration of clinical operations with research and educational HMHI related programs as needed
Clinical Enterprise Overview: UUHC includes a level 1 trauma hospital and is nationally ranked and recognized for its academic research, quality standards, and overall patient experience. The four UUHC hospitals (including HMHI) and seventeen clinics provide excellence in comprehensive services, medical advancement, and overall patient outcomes. This position has no responsibility for providing direct care to patients.
