This position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, implement clinical nursing interventions to modify symptoms, and develop and implement patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes and ensure a safe and therapeutic environment. This position may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to State Law.

All newly hired RNs in this position will attend a weekly Transition to Practice (TTP) Program that coincides with their onboarding. This program instructs staff on policies, procedures, skills and best practices at the University of Utah Hospital and Clinics (UUHC). New RNs (with less than 1-year of applicable nursing work experience) will also be automatically enrolled in the UUHC Nurse Residency Program. The Nurse Residency Program supports new RNs in their first year of practice through monthly trainings focused on growing in their confidence, clinical skills, leadership and professional development skills. Various tracks are offered to help develop new RN’s in their area of specialty such as: Oncology, Critical Care, Acute Care, Perioperative, Ambulatory, Women’s and Children’s, and Behavioral health. Participation in these programs is a requirement and expectation of UUHC onboarding.
