This position is a part of the Graduate Medical Education Wellness Office and will support our mission of ensuring that residents and fellows remain physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually healthy while completing their training. This position supports both prevention and recovery efforts for our trainees. Prevention work includes developing workshops on personal wellness, running debrief groups, working with resident and faculty Wellness Champions, and developing programs to decrease physician burnout and improve interpersonal and communication skills. Therapy activities include individual, group and couples counseling. The position is full-time with benefits and reports to the GME Director of Wellness.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the director and coordinator to develop preventative programing to decrease the frequency of burnout while enhancing the mental health and wellness of our trainee population.
  • Collaborates with Program Directors and Wellness Champions to ascertain and meet the wellness needs of training programs.
  • Works closely with the Ideals Committee to create an environment where all trainees thrive.
  • Positively contribute to the culture of wellbeing at the institution by fostering collaborative and open environment and actively participate in initiatives that enhance the overall growth of trainees.
  • May work with Resident Interest Groups to promote wellness and interpersonal and communication skills programming.
  • Provides/arranges wellness training for faculty, staff and residents.
  • Facilitates the residents’ access to medical and mental health services.
  • Provides short term individual and couples therapy to trainees. Provides referrals to specialty care.
  • May participate on various committees to ensure that the resident wellness perspective is articulated, when appropriate.
  • Assists in the development of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to develop innovative wellness programming and prevention work.
  • Ability to provide high quality mental health treatment to physicians in training.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Required

  • Two years directly related experience.
  • Experience with outreach and wellness programing.

Licenses Required

  • One of the following
    • Current Licensed Clinical Social Worker (L.C.S.W.) certificate for clinical practice in the State of Utah.
    • Current license to practice as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the State of Utah.
    • Current Utah License to practice as a Marriage and Family Therapist.
* Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department.

  • Experience working with physicians or in a medical environment.

  • This position involves intermediate work that may exert up to 50 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects while providing patient care to those requiring psychiatric care.
