Overview

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of Hospital Billing (HB), Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI), and Coding services within Health Information Management (HIM), a division of Revenue Cycle Support Services. This role acts as a catalyst for accurate and precise ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding data derived from clinical provider-patient care documentation. The manager ensures that accounts receivable (A/R) and coding goals are met, and all activities comply with regulatory requirements. They create and maintain processes to meet industry’s best practices and outcomes, execute and implement coding standards, and support the department strategy. Additionally, the manager oversees the Facility Coding team, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and quality in coding operations, and acts as a liaison between coders, physicians, and other healthcare staff to ensure correct coding practices. They are also responsible for managing the Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) team, including hiring, training, and evaluating team performance, and ensuring that the productivity and actions of the CDI team meet and support the overall operational goals of the department and institution. This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.

  • Ability to lead, motivate, and effectively communicate with both on-site and remote staff members 

Qualifications

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area of assignment, or equivalency.
  • Four years of more progressively responsible management experience.

Qualifications (Preferred)

Preferred

  • RHIA, RHIT, or CCS Certification  
  • Applicable supervisory training.
  • Master's degree in a related area, or equivalency.
