This position is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing the operations and fiscal health of a revenue cycle business unit. Responsible for overseeing and leading the work in accordance with State and Federal requirements, while ensuring alignment with entity performance metrics and strategic goals. The ideal candidate should possess an in-depth understanding of a variety of revenue cycle functions. The manager collaborates with clinical and administrative leaders to enhance the patient experience, financial performance, and operational efficiency. This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison between RCSS and entity leadership to ensure alignment of operational goals.
  • Lead initiatives that impact entity revenue cycle performance in various areas, which may include patient access, financial clearance, charge capture, billing accuracy, payment integrity, and timely collections.
  • Support entities in implementing select new medical services from a revenue cycle perspective.
  • Facilitate communication between RCSS, entity, and executive leadership in multiple forums, including participating in regular meetings that share entity revenue cycle performance, provide updates on initiatives, and prioritize future improvement opportunities.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities through reporting and root cause analysis.
  • Monitor and report on Revenue Cycle key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Coordinate with clinical departments to ensure accurate documentation, charging, and coding practices.
  • Support the development and implementation of standardized workflows across entities.
  • Provide leadership and direction to staff, including performance management and professional development.
  • Collaborate with IT and analytics teams to enhance reporting tools and data transparency.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and institutional policies.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Strong understanding of revenue cycle operations, including patient access, billing, collections, and charge capture.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to interact with leadership, department managers, and physicians regarding revenue cycle compliance, outcomes, successes, barriers, or other related financial issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to interpret and apply performance metrics to drive operational improvements.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing teams and implementing process improvements.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Ability to analyze large sets of data and perform department analytics in support of strategic decision making.
  • Demonstrate IT & Operational partnership.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and effectively communicate with both on-site and remote staff members.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field required or equivalency.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in revenue cycle management or related healthcare operations.
  • Experience working in an academic medical center or integrated health system preferred.
  • Supervisory or management experience required.

Qualifications (Preferred)

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Health Administration, or Business Management.
  • Strong preference for Healthcare understanding and experience.
