This position is responsible for outreach, coordination, and facilitation of clinical staff education for internal and external customers, as well as initiating, nurturing, and maintaining collaborative relationships with internal and external partners. The position is responsible for coordinating and facilitating student placements and/or healthcare worker placement. The position will participate as a member of the assigned team in the development, implementation, and coordination of clinical education programs and quality improvement systems and processes. This position may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to state law.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates, nurtures, and maintains collaborative relationships with affiliate organizations, outreach clinics, telehealth, and/or academic partners both within and outside the organization.
  • Manages, coordinates, and facilitates student clinical placements and/or healthcare worker placement.
  • Promotes nursing education and professional development of University of Utah Health Hospitals and Clinics clinical staff and/or affiliate, outreach, and telehealth staff.
  • Works collaboratively with nursing and clinical educators at affiliate hospitals and organizations.
  • Works as a part of the collaboration between Outreach Network Development & Telehealth (OND&T) and Clinical Staff Education (CSE) to manage, coordinate and facilitate the participation of affiliate hospital and organizations in University of Utah Health and CSE programs.
  • Coordinates and facilitates offsite/outreach education program delivery.
  • Develops and maintains the close working relationship between OND&T and CSE leadership, and their respective teams.
  • Collates and presents data and analysis representing external placements.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to conduct and participate effectively in meetings, speak effectively before groups, and/or teach classes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in relevant software applications.
  • Expert level clinical skills, knowledge, and abilities, or clinical proficiency in combination with proficiency as an educator.
  • Ability to maintain required clinical competencies.
  • Ability to maintain required competencies as an educator.
  • Ability to travel.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Required

  • Four years full time experience as a clinical RN.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.

Licenses Required

  • Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah, or obtain one within 90 days of hire under the interstate compact if switching residency to State of Utah. Must maintain current Interstate Compact (multi-state) license if residency is not being changed to Utah.

Qualifications (Preferred)

Preferred

  • MSN degree with a focus on nursing education.
  • Clinical experience in an academic medical center.
  • Experience in clinical and academic education and healthcare leadership.
  • Experience in communications, marketing, sales, and/or hospitality.
