INTERNSHIP DETAILS:

  • Non-Clinical (this position is not responsible for providing care to patients)
  • 12 weeks, PAID (~480 hours.) (non-benefitted).
  • Full-time work schedule, Monday through Friday, in Salt Lake City, UT (hybrid and on site)
  • Internship begins May 2026.
  • A student’s academic background and skillsets will be matched with varying types of projects and possible host departments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Participates in and leads ongoing planning and execution of internship projects as assigned by members of management
  • Obtains, analyzes, synthesizes, and interprets industry and institutional data, as well as market utilization and financial data. Assists in obtaining and evaluating benchmark data
  • Performs independent analysis of work flow processes, operational, financial, and statistical information using Visio, spreadsheets, financial modeling software and computer aided design software as assigned
  • Prepares presentation and quality reports/ Presents, communicates, and disseminates findings

The internship is designed to give a master's level student exposure to the inner workings of our healthcare organization. This learning opportunity is intended to refine the individual's analytical, technical, decision-making, interpersonal and managerial skills through project work while providing broad exposure to healthcare issues within the hospital and medical foundation. This is a 3 month (480 hour) internship experience. This position is not responsible for providing care to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Participates and leads ongoing planning and execution of internship projects as assigned by the preceptor and members of senior management.
  • Obtains, analyzes, synthesizes, and interprets industry and institutional data, as well as market utilization and financial data. Assists in obtaining and evaluating benchmark data.
  • Performs independent analysis of operational, financial and statistical information using spreadsheets, financial modeling software and computer aided design software as assigned.
  • Prepares presentations and quality reports.
  • Presents, communicates and disseminates findings.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of emerging healthcare challenges facing hospitals and healthcare systems nationally.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the members of the senior management team.

Qualifications

Required (must meet these two criteria at the start of the internship)

  • Completed Bachelor's degree in business, a health field, a related field, or equivalency.
  • Current enrollment in Master's degree program related to healthcare, business, public health, or IT.  (Please ensure current enrollment and education dates are also listed on your resume).

Qualifications (Preferred)

Preferred

  • This program is geared towards graduate students (MHA, MBA, MPH, MSIS, MSF, etc.).

  • This is a sedentary position in an office setting that may exert up to 10 pounds and may lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. This position involves sitting most of the time and is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
