The Capital Equipment Procurement Manager is responsible for managing the strategic procurement, coordination, and management of medical capital equipment for University of Utah Health. This role involves sourcing high-valueequipment, negotiating purchase contracts, ensuring compliance with regulatory and budgetary requirements, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to support operational and clinical needs. The ideal candidate will possessexpertise in supplier relationship management, cost optimization, and have an in-depth knowledge of supply chain logistics within the healthcare industry. All actions within this role will be carried out in accordance with organizational policies and abide by the Utah State Procurement Code.
- Develops and executes sourcing strategies for clinical capital equipment, including imaging systems, surgical tools, diagnostic devices, and other capital assets across the system.
- Manages the procurement processes for capital equipment and furnishings, including bid processes and RFQ’s.
- Responsible for procurement to pay cycle which includes requisitioning, creation of purchase orders, and order management processes that includes lead time management from origin to the point of clinical use.
- Collaborates with clinical teams, finance, clinical engineering and facilities management to assess equipment needs, budget guidelines, specifications, and required timelines.
- Researches and reconciles purchases, receipt issues, payment problems, irregularities, billing errors, and disputes.
- Resolves supply chain issues related to equipment delays, defects, invoicing discrepancies or vendor disputes in a timely manner.
- Actively participants in Value Analysis and department meetings to provide capital project status and updates to stakeholders.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Excel, Utah State Procurement Code and organizational Purchasing policies and procedures.
- Ability to analyze information and draw correct conclusions by creating cost analyses and successfully negotiating with others.
- Demonstrated customer service and excellent communications skills.
- Ability to manage and coordinate multiple capital projects that are large in scope.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing capital equipment projects resulting in smooth and seamless business operations.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with and lead cross-functional work teams and form strong relationships with medical staff leaders and clinicians.
- Demonstrated strong analytical capabilities, process improvement experience, spend analytics and benchmarking tool skills and practical knowledge of broader supply chain business requirements and processes.
