Overview

University of Utah Health is seeking a new Senior Nursing Director to lead Nursing Informatics.

 

In support of the organization's goals and mission, the incumbent supports the Associate Chief Nursing Officer for Ambulatory Services in leading Nursing Informatics across the University of Utah Health system of Hospitals and Clinics.

 

This position directs the human resources, customer/patient services, and financial management for their assigned nursing areas. The Senior Director Nursing works directly with nurse managers to ensure patient safety and quality of care are provided.

 

The incumbent also acts as a catalyst between departments, faculty, physicians and staff to ensure continuity and quality of service.

 

This position may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to State Law.

 

Qualified Candidates must have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Five years of progressive management experience.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah, or obtain one within 90 days of hire under the interstate compact if switching residency to State of Utah. Must maintain current Interstate Compact (multi-state) license if residency is not being changed to Utah.

Strongly Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Extensive experience in both clinical nursing and healthcare IT
  • Proficiency with EHR systems, data analytics platforms, and other health information technology is essential
  • Strong project management, communication, and change management skills are required to lead teams and influence stakeholders
  • Knowledge of interoperability standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR) and the ability to stay current with emerging technologies
  • Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card through American Heart Association, or obtain within one month of hire.
