This is a student position which is part of the sUdo Program. sUdo (Student University Development Opportunity) is a program designed to give U students real world work experience through paid internships with various teams within University of Utah Information Technology (UIT). The program focuses on mentoring and providing a hands-on experience within an enterprise environment; unlike any other student employee program at the University of Utah. Responsibilities

  • Becomes familiar and competent with service management processes through instruction by senior team members.
  • Assists with collecting documentation and managing processes as directed by senior team members.
  • Understands, follows, and implements appropriate change management controls.
  • Engages stakeholders in robust conversations about service issues.
  • Collects metrics to manage the processes.
  • Tracks Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for a large, enterprise virtual environment.
  • Meets regularly with IT teams to facilitate process improvement and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Prepares accurate and detailed reports including specifications, timelines, status and individual responsibilities.
  • Assists with the documentation of implementation and installation guidelines as directed by senior Team members.
  • Develops dashboards to help teams manage operations and metric

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and schematics.
  • Effective verbal and writing communication skills.
  • Superior interpersonal and customer service skills required including ability to work efficiently in a team environment.
  • High level of proficiency in effective problem solving.
  • Specific knowledge required in the following areas; TCP/IP, MS SMS, MS SharePoint, Active Directory, network security, server operating systems, programming languages, database, etc.
  • Ability to lift and carry various weight and diameter of equipment.
  • Ability to climb a stepladder.
