The DevOps Engineer I (i.e. Cloud Platform Engineer I) is a technical contributor who performs routine cloud operations and supports incremental software deployments. This position focuses on the execution of routine cloud operations, including resource provisioning, maintenance of established CI/CD pipelines, and basic troubleshooting in coordination with senior engineers. This position serves as a liaison between development and operations teams, enabling consistent, reliable release processes and supporting the overall software deployment lifecycle. This position assists in developing and maintaining automated release tools, identifying basic system needs, ensuring operational stability, and contributing to a smooth flow from code commit through deployment. This position follows agile workflows and delivery timelines. This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Supports software releases by monitoring and running CI/CD pipelines, performing basic checks, coordinating routine deployments, and escalating issues.
  • Assists with cloud provisioning and routine infrastructure tasks using approved IaC modules, applying IAM settings, performing patching and maintenance, and ensuring deployments meet baseline requirements.
  • Collaborates with development and infrastructure teams to support lifecycle activities, enable smooth handoffs, encourage automation, and improve communication for faster delivery.
  • Performs customer support and basic troubleshooting of code, deployment, and operational issues; monitors performance to identify and escalate potential problems.
  • Maintains and updates operational runbooks, documentation, and low‑code automation models to ensure consistency and repeatability.
  • Performs automated patching, server decommissioning, CIS hardening, and host configuration tasks within cloud-native environments using IaC.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Foundational understanding of at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Awareness of basic cloud security and networking concepts (VPC/VNet, IAM, firewalls, etc.).
  • Basic proficiency in one language (Python or PowerShell) for simple automation.
  • Basic proficiency in cloud, scripting, or DevOps concepts.
  • Familiarity with consuming IaC templates (Terraform or CloudFormation).
  • Exposure to one configuration management tool (Ansible, etc.).
  • Basic working knowledge of development processes and programming concepts.
  • Strong communication and customer‑service orientation.
  • Performs work under direct supervision, handling basic issues and escalating more complex problems.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions, adhere to runbooks, and escalate appropriately.
