The Experience Design Specialist supports system-wide goals by designing and delivering human-centered solutions. This role develops targeted content for widespread audiences and translates behavioral insights into practical tools that foster human-centered practices. The Specialist will contribute to co-design sessions, qualitative research, and content development, while managing resource libraries and supporting communication efforts. They collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure materials are relevant and tailored to the needs of end-users, and support evaluation efforts to deepen the impact of experience design across the health system.

Responsibilities

  • Independently designs clear, audience-ready learning materials—such as guides, 1-pagers, quick tips, workflows, and PPT decks—that support local or cross-functional needs.
  • Conducts interviews, shadowing, and mapping sessions to gather perspectives and translate insights into summaries, themes, and practical recommendations.
  • Facilitates small co-design sessions, feedback huddles, or working groups that surface clarity, generate ideas, and build shared understanding.
  • Creates visual workflows, communication tools, and basic prototypes and iterates on them using user feedback and rapid testing methods.
  • Performs qualitative analysis by sorting, coding, and synthesizing comments or reflections into decision-ready summaries.
  • Uses enterprise platforms (SharePoint, Teams, Qualtrics, and AI-enabled tools) to manage project components, produce materials, and ensure timely delivery.
  • Recognizes patterns or system-level concerns emerging from local data and escalates them to senior designers for broader evaluation.

  • Ability to form reliable positive relationships with frontline staff, coordinators, and operational partners.
  • Ability to create psychologically safe environments for feedback sessions.
  • Ability to gather perspectives through structured interviews, shadowing, and mapping.
  • Ability to produce clear, practical learning materials with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to use survey results and comments to make design decisions.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, human relations and effective communication skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalency.
  • Two years’ relevant experience in Experience, qualitative research, or healthcare environment.
