This position provides support to our department, providers and departments including on-site training, troubleshooting and correction of problems with computer hardware or software applications. The position also supports the Health Information department in producing reports and measurements as required by regulatory agencies.

Essential Functions

• Reviews, analyzes and performs hardware and software installation on web based applications.
• Builds and maintains all databases within the dictation/transcription software to support transcription house-wide. This includes maintaining a robust testing environment.
• Builds and manages the servers and the routing scripts for document distribution, including fax, email or print.
• Provides training and support to departments that utilize the hospital's transcription service. This includes the management tool, DVRs, iPhones, etc.
• Provides training and support to all physicians, related to both transcription services and Dragon Medical. Customizes templates to meet individual department and provider needs.
• Creates and maintains databases, network accounts and programs for specific department needs.
• Recommends modifications and improvements to existing systems.
• Acts as a liaison with transcription vendor.
• Monitors multiple work queues/in baskets, notifying and assisting providers with corrections to facilitate accurate interface into the EMR.
• Manages and tracks resident incentive payments.
• Manages and tracks departmental performance reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• Knowledge of EHRs (Power chart and Epic), document tracking systems, and/or billing/coding systems.

• Ability to make independent decisions as to specific user needs and repair requirements, as most work is performed outside of the direct supervision environment.

• Ability to prioritize requests and be able to handle concerns of impatient or dissatisfied customers.

• Demonstrated ability to trouble shooting communication equipment with or without schematics, maintaining dictation input devices within specifications and regulations.

• Incumbent must keep updated with new computer technology and understand how these relate to ongoing problems.

• Professional level communication and strong organization, problem solving, and prioritizing skills.

Required

• Associate's degree in a computer related field, or equivalency.
• Three years of experience working in a Health Information Department, or equivalency.
• Extensive knowledge of health information processes and HIPAA and other regulatory agencies.
• Course completion in Medical Terminology, Anatomy, Physiology, and Basic Coding.

Preferred

• Knowledge of EHR, document tracking systems, and/or billing/coding systems.
