This position photographs patients using a variety of specially designed still and video cameras to document and monitor eye diseases and disorders in order to assist physicians with the diagnosis and treatment of eye pathologies. The incumbent also supports the academic and teaching mission goals of the organization by providing imaging services for publications and presentations.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Performs successfully all of the essential functions of job code 7131, Ophthalmic Imager I.
  • Performs digital fluorescein and ICG angiography.
  • Sets up proper lighting and takes portraits of faculty and staff.
  • Performs copy stand photos with digital camera for academic School of Medicine work.
  • Prepares PowerPoint presentations, digital images for the purpose of lectures, educational presentations, publications, and prints.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of image manipulation tools such as Adobe Photoshop, scanning software, presentation software, CD creator software and printing software.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Access, Excel, Word, EPIC, and AXIS.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic color correction processes.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalency.
  • Two years of experience as an ophthalmic photographer.
  • Certification in at least three clinical study imaging protocols.

Licenses Required

  • Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Certified Retinal Angiographer Certification (CRA)

Qualifications (Preferred)

Ophthalmic Imaging Experience

Show intermediate to advanced skills in over 50% of imaging equipment in use:
Heidelberg Engineering: Spectralis HRA + OCT2 8mode, OCT-A Shift, Confocal HRT III, Anterion, FLIO 1, FLIO2, HighRes. 
Optos: California RGB/FA/ICG, Silverstone RGB/FA/ICG SS OCT, Monaco Pro RG OCT. Haag-Streit BX-900 Slit Lamp Camera. 
Topcon TRC (various) fundus cameras. Lumibird: Absolu. Zeiss: Clarus 700 RGB/FA, Cirrus 5000 OCT.  Konan CellCheck 20.  Carrot: VF3 Pro.  Optomed: Aurora HandHeld camera.
