This position completes the essential functions of the job under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist. As a Pharmacy Technician II, this position provides advanced services such as IV therapy, preparation of chemotherapy, maintenance of automated dispensing machines, narcotic coordination, investigational drug therapy, billing/coding. Technician II incumbents are expected to plan, coordinate, and implement training programs for other staff. Technician IIs have a higher level of responsibility for departmental and organizational problem solving. Medical oncology, hematology, BMT and surgical oncology patients are all admitted to the HICU. As the only Oncology ICU in the Intermountain West, we serve a large variety of patients and conditions including:  - Hemodynamic instability due to sepsis or hypovolemia - Respiratory compromise requiring ventilator support - Rejection or significant relapse to cancer therapy - Craniotomies - Extensive and complex surgeries and high risk patients receiving chemotherapy We are the cardiac arrest and rapid response team for the Huntsman Cancer Hospital and Clinics where we work with a multidisciplinary team to provide emergency support and continued aftercare to all that receive their care at our facility. We have received recognition for being in the top 1% for patient satisfaction and exceptional patient services. We have also been recognized quarterly in nursing communication, pain management and exceptional patient experience. As a department, the Huntsman ICU works as a shared model department and utilize a Clinical Practice Council that consists of nurses, nursing assistants, health unit coordinators and leaders to drive policy and practice changes and development.
