Under the oversight of a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (L.C.S.W.) this position provides psychological and social support to patients and families and may be responsible for integrating counseling services with overall patient care. The Social Worker assists patients in meeting their psychosocial needs whether it be, the supervised practice of mental health therapy or facilitating patient adjustment in treatment, hospitalization or transition into the community after therapy.

In order to qualify:

The incumbent will have direct contact with patients and their families as well as perform indirect patient care activities necessary to support patients within their environment. This position provides direct patient care and may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to state law.

Provides assistance and information to incoming patients, visitors and staff to facilitate their entrance to and exit from the hospital. This position assists the surgical team by acting as the primary scrub person who handles the instruments, supplies and equipment during surgical procedures. The incumbent maintains constant vigilance for the maintenance of the sterile field and assists with maintaining equipment and instruments as well as with supply inventory. This position may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to state law.

This position is responsible for transporting patients to and from their bed and other areas such as therapy, surgery, or radiology. Other responsibilities include retrieving medical records, lab results, supplies and medications.
