This position requires the certified surgical technician to assist the surgical team by acting as the primary scrub technician who handles the instruments, supplies and equipment during surgical procedures. Incumbents maintain constant vigilance for the maintenance of the sterile field and are continually learning new techniques to better assist in specialty surgical services. The technician assists with maintaining equipment and instruments as well as with supply inventory. Based on location, mandatory call, holiday and weekend shifts may be required for all employees. This position may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to state law.

This position is responsible for providing patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Providing direct contact with patients and their families as well as the performance of indirect patient care activities necessary to support patients and their environment. This position is responsible for performing all aspects of cardiac sonography, which includes transthoracic, two dimensional m-mode and doppler procedures, transesophageal procedures, pharmacologic/non-pharmacologic stress echocardiograms, and imaging procedures. This position provides the technical functions associated with the delivery of clinical pharmacy services by maintaining proper stock levels in all pharmacy locations, compounding or otherwise preparing, filling, pricing, and delivering pharmaceuticals or other related items. The incumbent may perform duties such as entering prescriptions, completing reports, operating and maintaining automated dispensing devices, inputting computer data, and providing all aspects of customer service that are required to provide Pharmacy Department services. This position completes the essential functions of the job under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist. As a Pharmacy Technician II, this position provides advanced services such as IV therapy, preparation of chemotherapy, maintenance of automated dispensing machines, narcotic coordination, investigational drug therapy, billing/coding. Technician II incumbents are expected to plan, coordinate, and implement training programs for other staff. Technician IIs have a higher level of responsibility for departmental and organizational problem solving.

University of Utah Health is pleased to offer a Sign-On Bonus to newly hired licensed Pharmacy Technicians who have not been previously employed by University of Utah Health within the prior twelve months.
- The first payment of $250.00 will be paid in one lump sum on the next regularly scheduled pay date after you start employment with the University of Utah Health.
- After one year of employment, you will receive an additional $750 on the check following your anniversary date.
- The second payment will not be issued if there has been a disciplinary action during the year (12 months from your hire date).
- The incentive payments are taxable and all regular payroll taxes will be withheld.
SIGN ON BONUS OFFERED!
Hospitals and Clinics is embarking on a new program to attract and retain qualified employees. The program provides a signing bonus for new hired employees at a 0.50 FTE or greater.
• The first installment is paid out upon hire within the first 30 days.
• The second installment is paid out after 1 year of employment.
In order to qualify:
• The applying candidate must be an external candidate.
• Must receive an offer before December 31st, 2023.
• If, at any time during the first twelve (12) months of employment, an eligible employee drops below a .50 FTE, all future bonuses are forfeited, regardless of whether or not they later return to an FTE above .50.
• If an eligible employee terminates from the organization and is subsequently rehired, they must have been separated from the organization for a period of at least 3 months before becoming eligible once again for the program.
Sign-on bonuses and payments are taxable income to the employee. The University complies with federal and state regulations on reporting bonuses and payments as additional income to the employee, and paid amounts are considered wages for income and employment tax purposes. Bonuses and payments must be reported as wages on Form W-2 and all applicable withholding taxes will be withheld and reported.

Unit Description: Our Burn Center is a holistic care center that has its own 15 bed ICU, physical and occupational therapy, outpatient center, operating room, and community outreach and after care programming departments. It truly is a center of excellence that provides services to the Intermountain West. We have been distinguished as an American Burn Association/American College of Surgeon Verified Burn Center.
We believe in development of our staff! We are a leader in national research for burn care as well as leader within the American Burn Association. Our focus is to always provide the highest level of care for every patient and reflect daily on how we can make it better tomorrow.
