The Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI) is a full-service psychiatric hospital providing inpatient care for adults and youth. High-quality staff and clinical expertise have allowed HMHI to enjoy a reputation in the local community and throughout the Intermountain West as a leader in advanced psychiatric treatment. HMHI is also unique in the degree to which they integrate psychologists into hospital treatment. Clinical psychologists at HMHI work with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care for patients in a hospital setting. This position primarily serves patients on adult inpatient units at HMHI, and will provide individual and family therapy, psychological assessment, and consultation for patients and treatment teams. We are particularly interested in psychologists who have interest in and experience working with patients struggling with suicidal ideation, substance use disorders, mood disorders, anxiety, complex trauma, and personality issues. Treatment approaches based on third wave cognitive behavioral therapies are supported and valued at HMHI.

EO/AA   Responsible for the integrity of 24/7 clinical operations for Utah’s integrated crisis response system, this administrative leadership position supervises the daily activities of staff working on the Utah Crisis Line, 988 Chat and Text line, the Utah Warm Line, and/or Salt Lake County Mobile Crisis Outreach Teams (MCOT). Staff that directly report to the incumbent are responsible for assessing individuals experiencing a self-defined crisis, performing screening and triage, offering psycho-social support, and connecting to appropriate resources to stabilize the crisis and reduce suicidal risk for patients. The supervisor is also responsible for coordinating in-service and ongoing education and monitoring quality control in collaboration with the department’s training and quality improvement team; overseeing safety processes; interviewing, hiring and training new staff; evaluating performance and ensuring staff accountability for a healthy, psychologically safe, and patient-centered team culture; and scheduling work shifts or volume-adjusting staff based on patient demand in coordination with the department’s administrative assistant. Services also include collaboration with local mental health authorities in the state of Utah. Utah Statewide CrisisLine is maintained 24/7 through a comprehensive telephonic system staffed by mental health professionals capable of assessing any individual experiencing a self-defined crisis situation, leading to appropriate crisis stabilization and making appropriate referrals.   A Crisis Worker may perform screening and triage, psycho-social support, and connection to appropriate resources through call or text. Services also include collaboration with local mental health authorities in the state of Utah. As such, the Statewide CrisisLine operates as a dispatch for Mobile Crisis Outreach Teams across the state of Utah. Primary duties are working on the Utah Crisis Line providing crisis intervention via chat/text.
