SIGN ON BONUS OFFERED!   Hospitals and Clinics is embarking on a new program to attract and retain qualified employees. The program provides a signing bonus for new hired employees at a 0.50 FTE or greater. • The first installment is paid out upon hire within the first 30 days. • The second installment is paid out after 1 year of employment. In order to qualify: • The applying candidate must be an external candidate. • If, at any time during the first twelve (12) months of employment, an eligible employee drops below a .50 FTE, all future bonuses are forfeited, regardless of whether or not they later return to an FTE above .50. • If an eligible employee terminates from the organization and is subsequently rehired, they must have been separated from the organization for a period of at least 3 months before becoming eligible once again for the program. At a .90 FTE, you will receive $675 within the first 30 days of hire and $1125 after 1 year. At a .75 FTE, you will receive $562 within the first 30 days of hire and $937 after 1 year. HCH 4 Medical Oncology is a 25 bed inpatient unit. We have a wide variety of patients with medical needs with the common diagnosis of cancer. Patients range from a brand new diagnosis/work-up and hearing cancer for the first time, inpatient chemotherapy treatment, symptom management, complications related to treatment or their cancer, through end of life. Since cancer can affect any organ system in the body, we have all types of patients, like, neuro issues, cardiac issues, GI issues, etc. We have an average length of stay of 5 days, discharging about a third of our patients every day and admitting new patients. We work closely with the other HCH units and often take overflow from both the BMT/Heme unit and the surgical unit. Our five hospitals and eleven clinics provide excellence in our comprehensive services, medical advancement, and overall patient outcomes.   The Hematology Inpatient Unit at Huntsman Cancer Institute is a 24-bed inpatient unit that primarily cares for patients with hematologic malignancies i.e. leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, etc. We see patients at various stages of their cancer journey, including new diagnosis, treatment/maintenance, complications/symptom management, curative, or end of life. This patient population is complex and tends to have high acuity. Therefore, RNs have a 3:1 patient ratio, and are supported by HCAs with a 5:1 patient ratio. Our unit is fast-paced and provides lots of opportunities for critical thinking, learning and growth. Our RNs are skilled in IV chemotherapy/immunotherapy administration, central line care, and clinical trials. Our patients typically have several cycles of chemotherapy, so we see them back with us often. This uniquely allows our team to have the opportunity to build connections with our patients and their loved ones, which is one of the most rewarding aspects of the job. We work closely with many interdisciplinary teams to ensure our patients are receiving well-rounded care from all viewpoints. Our service lines are highly involved with the Clinical Trials Office (CTO) at HCI, and our staff have the chance to see research go from “bench to the bedside,” including Phase 1 trials.
